Donna Gunn Mille

Donna Gunn Miller - Contemporary Award

Donna Miller, a past Okaloosa County Assistant County Administrator and volunteer, recognized by her colleagues, peers, and subordinates for exceptional leadership and mentoring skills, was nominated by Pat Hollarn. Miller recently retired after 29 years of public service in several Florida counties, including the last 15 years as Okaloosa County Assistant County Administrator. According to Hollarn's nomination, "Miller is recognized by her colleagues, peers, and subordinates for exceptional leadership and people/communication skills, integrity, professionalism, conflict resolution skills, knowledge, and intelligence. She served tirelessly as a mentor, teacher and problem solver to many, within and outside her chain of command. She continues to expand her volunteerism post retirement through a variety of community projects and services."

Eddie Mae Owens

Eddie Mae Owens - Business Award

Eddie Mae Owens, one of the first female CEO's in a county financial institution, used her high level positions to help others, particularly other women. She has served as a volunteer for the United Way, Okaloosa Walton Community College, Okaloosa County Commission on the Status of Women, Chamber of Commerce, ABWA, Okaloosa Guidance Clinic, League of Women Voters, a mentor for the school system, First Baptist Church and other charitable and civic organizations. She was nominated by her son, H. Benton Owens, who said of his mother, "She was an example to others to give back and led the way for women who wanted a career."
